The Office of Youth Ministry focus is to take care of the “crying need” of the Youth and Young adults of the Archdiocese of Portland.
We support schools, parishes and Church leaders in their mission to prepare youth and young adults to hear and respond to the call of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to inculcate in our youth the awareness that they belong not only to a “universal” Church but also to a parish that needs their involvement and commitment.
The Archdiocese of Portland desires to form our youth to become holy, engaged, and alive. This process is not a lofty goal or an empty dream, but is rather an inner longing of our hearts.
As Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI stated, "To some extent, this urge to break out of the ordinary is present in every generation. Part of being young is desiring something beyond everyday life and a secure job, a yearning for something really truly greater. Is this simply an empty dream that fades away as we become older? No! Men and women were created for something great, for infinity. Nothing else will ever be enough."
